How TMS Works

TMS targets the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex—an area of the brain involved in emotional regulation—using magnetic pulses delivered through a coil positioned over the scalp. Each treatment session lasts about 20–40 minutes and is done 5 times per week for 6-7 weeks.

How It Works

Step 1: Initial Evaluation 

Initial Evaluation (required):

  • Cost:

    • Private Pay (no insurance):

      • $400 private pay discounted rate.

    • Insurance: Covered by most commercial payers and Medicare (not Medicaid).​​​

      • You will be responsible for any copays or deductibles. ​

  • Duration: 90 minutes

  • Included:

    • Psychiatric Evaluation (may be completed on a separate day over the phone).

    • Therapy Intake: Ketamine and/ or TMS Preparation Session.

    • For Ketamine: Meeting with the Infusion Team: Set and Setting Preparation, Vital Signs and dosing review.

    • For TMS: Introduction to TMS technician, tour of TMS suite and good faith estimate (if insurance was provided early enough).


Insurance Info:

  • In-Network: Billed to insurance; co-pays and deductibles apply.

  • Out-of-Network: Pay upfront: $400

  • No Insurance, Medicaid, or don't want to use insurance: $400.


Payment options include the following: HSA/FSA, Credit Card, CareCredit, Cash

Step 2: Your Treatment Plan

TMS Treatment Cost:

  1. ​​Private Pay (No Insurance):  Discounted rate of $200 per treatment.

  2. Insurance: You are responsible for any copays and deductibles

*Note: Prior Authorization or 'PA' is required for Insurance to cover the cost of TMS treatment.  Prior Authorization (PA) criteria vary by insurance company but most require the following:

  1. Major Depressive Disorder diagnosis

  2. History of Antidepressant medication trials:

    1. 3-4 different medications with adequate dose and duration or side effects.​

    2. Current or Previous therapist information.

Follow Up Checkup

Step 3: Follow Up

We encourage you to schedule a follow-up visit with our doctor and/or therapist when you: complete your initial six infusions (induction phase) and/or between sessions 12-24 of TMS.

Follow-up appointments for TMS treatment allow us to: 

  • Discuss your progress and wellbeing.

  • Allows us to fine-tune your treatment-- adjusting intensity, placement, or duration if needed to maximize results. 

  • Discuss maintenance options or additional support to maintain progress post-treatment​

Accepted Forms Of Payment

HSA and FSA card accounts can be used as a form of payment. Credit/debit card(s), cash, and CareCredit are also accepted.
